The First Steps towards Global STIR/SHAKEN Implementation
When the STIR/SHAKEN caller ID authentication framework was being written, it was designed in a way that could allow for widespread global adoption. The scope of the standards had to be flexible to act as a useful and scalable tool that would allow each country to tailor it to fit their individual needs to align with their governance while also working at the protocol level. With the United States leading the way being the first to adopt the standards so far, Canada is not far behind, with its first implementation deadline on November 30th of this year.
